USCG saw the 73-foot yacht on fire around 6 a.m. Tuesday at Cape Charles Marina. They responded, along with local fire departments and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. Fire crews from Accomack County, Cape Charles, and Cheriton, Virginia fought the fire on board the boat. At approximately 6:10 this morning, a 75 ft.
Fire teams were able to keep the vessell from sinking. There were no injuries, and hazardous materials were kept out of the water.
The fire was brought under control after approximately 30 minutes, and the scene was cleared by1:00 PM.
Crews from the Incident Management Division of Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads have responded to assess environmental impact and vessel salvage.

Thanks to all who responded. I saw it yesterday and it was just a chilling site. Sad. So glad no one was injured nor was there any pollution. I’ve so admired this classic wooden vessel before the fire and am so sorry this happened.
