CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Residents looking to get more involved in shaping the future of downtown Cape Charles have a new opportunity to step into leadership roles, as Cape Charles Main Street announces openings for board and committee positions.
The organization is currently seeking volunteers to fill two key roles: Director of Promotions and Chair of Promotions, both of which play a central part in advancing the town’s economic vitality and community identity.
Cape Charles Main Street, a nonprofit organization operating under the national Main Street America program, focuses on strengthening downtown through a four-point approach: economic vitality, design, promotion, and organization. The group works in coordination with Virginia’s Department of Housing and Community Development to support small businesses, events, and revitalization efforts along the town’s historic corridor.
Officials say the promotions team is especially important in shaping how Cape Charles presents itself to residents and visitors alike. From organizing events to highlighting local culture and history, the committee helps reinforce the town’s reputation as a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.
Those serving as Director or Chair will be responsible for leading committee efforts, coordinating with the Executive Director, and helping recruit and guide volunteers. The roles require collaboration, leadership, and a willingness to help execute projects that enhance the downtown experience.
“All positions are volunteer-based, but they offer a meaningful way to directly impact the community,” the announcement notes, emphasizing the importance of civic engagement in maintaining the town’s unique character.
Cape Charles Main Street encourages interested residents to apply online. Selected applicants will be contacted to discuss the roles further and schedule interviews.

The call for volunteers comes as Cape Charles continues to experience growth and increased interest in its downtown, placing renewed emphasis on community-driven leadership and planning.

What’s Virginia Department of Housing got to do with the town making money and hiring? They too need to do their damn jobs and stop ignoring what’s going on here at Myrtle Landing! YOU’VE GOT MAIL!
P.S. If you don’t like my comments SIUYFA, I’m not here to engage or waste my energy on trolls that have nothing better to do with their time than to cause drama for their own entertainment.
You are not wrapped tight, are you? They have medication for your issues. Please seek the help you need.
thanks for the medical advice Wayne, keep trying you’ve not killed the horse yet lol any attention is good attention for you, eh?
Editor’s Note: Don’t know what you are talking about, but you are temp banned. No soup for you, come back one year…
HEAR! HEAR!!!
‘but you are temp banned. No soup for you, come back one year…’
Lmao! Only one causing drama for their own entertainment is yourself. If Virginia Department of Housing has nothing to do with the town making money, then why do you keep going to the town complaining and not the Department of Public Housing?
Spread Love, Not The Virus
Haters like you are indeed the virus.
It has become difficult lately to determine who is barking at who.
Wingnuts and knuckleheads seem out of control.
Misfits and antisocial dimwits to the left and weirdos and PMS queens to the right.
There are a few that banning for a year would help improve the conversation.
Just an observation.
Editor’s Note: The Mirror has probably run its course, may be time to deep six the whole thing.
Freedom of speech is unnecessary if the people to whom it is granted do not think for themselves…
The Mirror’s the best online source of local news, gossip and events. A delight to read.
If only a small number of participants would reduce the name calling and inyourface posts everything would be most groovy.
It would be a shame for Wayne to cease operations because of petty bickering.
