Cape Charles, VA — The Cape Charles Memorial Library is making a change that weekend visitors and residents alike will want to note: beginning May 2, 2026, the library will open earlier on Saturdays and close earlier in the afternoon.
The updated Saturday schedule shifts from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., giving early risers more access to library services while maintaining a four-hour window for weekend visits.
Library staff say the adjustment is part of an effort to better align hours with community usage patterns. “We’ve seen more patrons looking to start their day earlier, especially on weekends,” a library representative noted. “This change helps us meet that demand while continuing to serve as a hub for learning, reading, and connection.”
The rest of the weekly schedule will remain unchanged:
- Monday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Tuesday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday–Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
The Cape Charles Memorial Library continues to offer a wide range of services, including book lending, public computer access, and community programming. With the new Saturday hours, officials hope to make the library even more accessible to families, students, and visitors looking to make the most of their weekends.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and take advantage of the earlier opening time starting in May.
