CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Several Cape Charles officials will be participating in professional training programs aimed at strengthening local planning and zoning expertise.
Town Councilman Clayton Newman is scheduled to attend the Certified Planning Commissioners Program from January 29 through March 27, 2026. The program focuses on planning principles, land use law, and best practices for local government decision-making.
In addition, Planning Commissioner Ian McDonald and Zoning Compliance Officer and Planning Administrative Assistant Jack Steinmayer will attend the same program during a later session, running from April 27 through June 16, 2026.
Town officials say the training will help ensure that elected and appointed leaders remain informed on current planning standards and regulatory requirements, supporting effective governance and community development in Cape Charles.
