CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Cape Charles police responded to a wide range of calls over the past week, including several vehicle accidents, welfare checks, and reports of suspicious or dangerous behavior, according to the latest report from Police Chief Jim Pruitt.
Among the more serious incidents were an assault in progress, a suspected suicidal subject, and a report of a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Route 13. Officers also assisted emergency medical services on multiple occasions and responded to reports of shots fired, a drunk driver, and marijuana found in a vehicle.
Other calls for service included trespassing, construction fraud, 911 hang-ups, and reports of drinking on the beach. Officers also provided courtesy rides, translated for dispatch, and assisted citizens in need.
The department continued to maintain a visible presence in town, conducting building checks, issuing traffic summonses, enforcing code violations, and carrying out foot patrols. Officers also reported 14 interactions involving golf carts—common in Cape Charles during the busy summer season.
In addition to active patrols and call responses, the department completed a “Mental Armor for First Responders” training session aimed at supporting officer wellness and continued field training for newly hired officers.
Chief Pruitt emphasized the department’s ongoing commitment to public safety during the town’s busiest weeks of the year.
First off you should probably keep your asses IN town. No one needs your help elsewhere. DO YOUR DAMN JOB INSTEAD OF ALWAYS TRYING TO DO SOMEONE ELSES! STAY IN YOUR OWN JURISDICTION! JUST BECAUSE YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF TOWN DOESNT MEAN YOU LEAVE TOWN WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE IT! INCIDENT OR NOT! SITTING ON YOUR ASS AT HOME WAITING FOR A CALL TO COME IN. AND NO NOT A SINGLE OFFICER LIVES WITHIN TOWN LIMITS!
