CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Historic Palace Theatre will host a free community screening of the classic Walt Disney film Johnny Tremain on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 2 p.m.
The 1957 Technicolor adventure film, produced by Walt Disney Productions, is based on the historical novel by Esther Forbes and follows the story of a teenage silversmith’s apprentice caught up in the early days of the American Revolution. Set in colonial Boston, the film traces young Johnny Tremain’s transformation from ambitious apprentice to committed patriot as tensions rise between the colonies and British rule.
Promoted with the iconic tagline “Run, Johnny, Run,” the film stars Hal Stalmaster in the title role and features a cast that includes Luana Patten, Jeff York and Sebastian Cabot. The movie has long been regarded as one of Disney’s most respected historical dramas and remains a staple in American history education.

The screening is part of Cape Charles’ ongoing community programming and coincides with the town’s Town Wide Read of Johnny Tremain, which is being coordinated through the Cape Charles Memorial Library. Residents are encouraged to attend whether or not they have participated in the book discussions.
Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
