    1. Ray Otton, regardless of whether or not the author has as much concern for pre-born humans as he does for chickens doesn’t excuse the rest of us from needing to be very concerned about the unnecessary suffering of billions of nonhuman animals.

      1. The tone of the article was preachy. As if not being a Vegan puts one on a lower stratum of ‘humanness”.

I felt it necessary to remind the author and the readership that there has been plenty of unnecessary suffering foisted upon preborn human animals. In fact, I’d say that being torn asunder in your home is about the most unnecessary suffering one can imagine.

In many cases the same folks who espouse kindness toward non-human animals are the same folks who support this.

        Which of course is hypocritical.

    2. What does one have to do with the other. Does compassion for animals prevent one from having compassion for humans? I should the opposite is true.

  1. Let us stay with the topic, rather than deviate into a preachy unrelated sideline. Meat is cruel. As an evolved human being in the 21st century, one should aspire to be vegan. If you reflect on the many implications of eating meat – health and cruelty in particular, – there is no other alternative. Just because ancestors lived in caves, it doesn’t mean you should too. Same with food consumption. Aspire to evolve, consume with your and others’ health in mind. (As I broil salmon for dinner, I will reflect on this aspiration.)
