UPDATE FROM KELLY’S: After long conversations and much serious thought. Colleen and I have decided to not renew our contract with the realtor and will be taking the Pub off of the market. We had a very good 2016 season and we look forward to many more years of service here on The Eastern Shore! Our staff has performed extremely well and we are very encouraged by this recent growth in sales! Onward to 2017!
Note: The Mirror recieved 3 notices from the Deb Kelly firm last week regarding this sale. We contacted Mr. Kelly Friday and he did not mention taking it off the market.
While we were aware that conversations had been ongoing, it has been made official. Local icon, Kelly’s Gingernut Pub is on the market, listed by the Deb Kelly Realty Team, a firm out of Newport News. The pub is listed at $1,800,000.00. The Mirror reached out to Gene Kelly, however he did not want to comment.
The opening of Kelly’s marked the beginning of the Mason Avenue renaissance, showcasing a gorgeous historical reuse of one of the town’s premiere structures. Owners Gene and Collen spared no detail, maximizing the space to its fullest while maintaining an air of historic authenticity. Kelly’s was groundbreaking in its ability to bring the craft beer market to Cape Charles, as well as provide an artistic take on traditional pub cuisine.
Gene Kelly, leveraging the connections he made during his many years in New York, broke new ground by bringing national music acts to the lower shore.
Still considered the crown jewel of Mason Avenue, Kelly’s presents itself as a prime, turnkey opportunity in the heart of historic Cape Charles.
