CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Young food lovers and aspiring chefs will have the chance to roll up their sleeves and learn how to make fresh, homemade pesto at the next Summer Garden Club meeting hosted by New Roots Youth Garden.
The event, scheduled for Aug. 14 from 5 to 6:15 p.m., is open to children ages 5 to 13. Participants will work hands-on with fresh basil and other ingredients to create the classic Italian sauce, gaining both cooking skills and an appreciation for garden-to-table eating.
Organizers remind attendees to wear closed-toe shoes for safety, bring sunscreen, and note that the session will take place weather permitting. Registration can be completed by scanning the QR code on the event flyer.
