The Northampton Board of Supervisors wouldn’t know a good idea if it poured a bucket of ice water over them.
Hire somebody to market the county? We just paid a so-called Economic Development Director more than a quarter million dollars to do just that. The Board hired him with no marketing experience, no rural development experience, and guess what? Surprise—he took our money, hit the road and left us with jack squat.
Then we lost a Finance Director, a CPA with decades of local government experience, and hired a new guy who just left a job with Homeland Security?
And now Mr. Teeling suggests that the Supervisors hire new grad with no experience, no professional background and no industry contacts—to market the county?
What we really need are a couple of new Supervisors. Anybody up for the job?

I find it interesting that Mr. Teeling has appointed himself as a spokesperson telling the Northampton BOS how they should spend tax payer dollars when he is not a resident or tax payer in Northampton County. Mr. Teeling is a resident of Accomack County who has sent his children to Northampton County Public Schools without paying out of district fees. Perhaps he would like to move into the county and contribute to the tax base that he wants to influence.
Mr. Teeling, a cabinet-maker, is a gifted articulate positive thinker and very well thought of in our communities. He is poised and well mannered. http://capecharleswave.com/2015/05/teeling-community-involvement-can-save-schools/
On May 12 our Northampton BoS unanimously approved Andy’s Education Proclamation and Resolution Declaring Education as the Cornerstone for Northampton County’s Economic Future. I first met him as he was volunteering during our highschool’s breakfast on MLK Day this year.
The following further conveys his many abilities: http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/anne-arundel/annapolis/bs-md-ar-andy-teeling-20141002-story.html.
Mr.Teeling and his wife have been ardent supporters of Northampton County’s school system for at least the last 14 years. Andy can regularly be seen on the front lines of the cheering section for Yellow Jacket’s games, and his sons have been recognized as important cogs in the successes our local sports programs have enjoyed. From PTA to Booster clubs, these parents have been fully engaged in a positive and productive manner in their children’s education and integration into our school district and its associated activities. Andy is inspiring us all to get more involved in promoting Northampton County’s education system as the engine that drives our local and regional economy. He and his wife, as well their children, are shining examples of what one family can do to highlight the importance and value of our wonderful school system, and rather than castigating Andy’s personal sacrifices (no one is paying him to spend the hundreds-if not more- of hours he has invested in promoting our schools), we should embrace his enthusiasm and join his team!
