Women Supporting Women is proud to announce the return of the Accomack Support Group — a warm, in-person gathering for breast cancer survivors in Accomack County and the surrounding area.
Meeting every second Tuesday of the month at 1 PM, the group is led by Cathy Kerns of the Women Supporting Women organization. It offers survivors a dedicated space to connect face-to-face, share their experiences, and lift one another through every stage of the breast cancer journey — from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
“A safe, welcoming space for local survivors to connect, share, and support one another — wherever they are in their journey.”
Meeting Details
When: 2nd Tuesday of every month · 1:00 PM
Where: Eastern Shore of Virginia Regional Library & Heritage Center, Parksley, VA

Free & open to all breast cancer survivors
Breast cancer support groups offer proven benefits beyond emotional comfort. Research consistently shows that peer support helps survivors manage anxiety and depression, process the complex emotions of survivorship, and navigate challenges like treatment side effects, body image, and the fear of recurrence. Groups like this one also provide a practical network — members often share tips about local medical resources, transportation, and navigating insurance.
In-person groups are especially valuable for those in rural communities, where the nearest cancer center may be hours away. The Accomack group fills a vital gap for Eastern Shore residents who may otherwise feel isolated in their survivorship.
