The Mirror recently received this email:
I write to you as probably a last resort. Up until a year ago, Cape Charles had an excellent Web Cam mounted on the Wilson Building. The owner named it “Cape Charles Sunsets”. The Cam went “dark” and has never returned. Attempts to contact the owners have been futile and we wish there was some way that Cam could be put back into operation. We find it hard to believe that we are the only ones who miss it. It was truly unique Cam and we sincerely hope it will return. Thanks for any help in this matter.
This did make us think. We understand the maintaining a rooftop camera, and streaming it out to the web can eventually be too much for a private citizen to take on, but what about a community driven effort? Our first thought was that, whoever eventually takes over the Cape Charles by the Bay website, should look at incorporating the new sunset cam into the site. Of course, where to place it is the dilemma…on top the Wilson is probably the best, but after that, where could you put it?
Send your ideas to: capecharlesmirror@gmail.com or just call the town manager directly.
Either way, I think it’s time to bring the sunset cam back, don’t you?
