  1. Very interesting article, and since those at the highest level knows the taxpayer is being ripped off and not doing anything about it, makes me wonder, just who is in who’s back pocket. As a taxpayer I don’t think our current government in Richmond or Northampton county appears to want to do anything. Perhaps they don’t want to rock the boat, so that their emperor Mr. Northam to proceed to the top level of government in Virginia. Perhaps the taxpayers should do something to prevent that from happening, and while at it, also change who is in charge of the hen house in Cape Charles and Northampton county.

By the way, I am not the county attorney mentioned in the article, just an interested taxpayer watching my taxes being misused by politicians.

  2. Been following the Bay Creek debacle for some time now. It is interesting how the community and especially whatever board of trustees or committee they have set up to handle their litigation, gets a pass. Every time. How is it, the county taxpayer is bailing out and paying for these improvements, when clearly it is in the by-laws that the developer of the community of Bay Creek is legally bound to pay for any/all improvements along the Route 642 corridor? I am surprised so few Northampton citizens have spoken up. Maybe they are on such good terms with the good folks at Bay Creek, they don’t mind paying their bills for them. Because, basically, this is what is happening.

Seems to me, there is malfeasance going on here and someone or several people are involved. This type of corruption begins at the local level and grinds it way up our system all the way to Richmond, if we let it. To the Mirror, kudos for their doggedly pursuit of this issue and for keeping their eyes on the ball. It is time for this chicken to come home to roost. Five years of dodgy practices and pulling the wool over the Town of Cape Charles’ eyes is enough! Might I suggest an open session sit-down between developer, Virginia Department of Transportation, town council and a couple of reporters from the Virginian Pilot, Richmond Times Dispatch and the Mirror. Then maybe the truth will rise to a level of clarification.
