The second round of auditions for “A Beggar’s Christmas” will take place this Friday October 13th @ 5:00 at the Palace Theatre in Cape Charles.
The play takes place in Victorian England, and follows the trials and exploits of poor and innocent “street children” who navigate a life of poverty and misfortune all the while trying to avoid being sent to the “workhouses”. The miser Ebenezer Scrooge would like to see them all rounded up for the workhouses, but the crafty Martin, leader of the street beggars has other plans. Against this backdrop, two star-crossed lovers hope to escape the dreariness of the London streets, and escape to America where they can become honest citizens finally able to enjoy the fruits of good work.
There are roles for adults, teens and children. This production is in conjunction with Amy Watkins Arts Enter School of Dance, and Arts Enter Academy of Theater Arts.
This is a dance and musical production, so please bring a song if you want be in the musical numbers.
