Joe Jackson, noted bestselling author and visiting ODU writing professor, will join Joe Coccaro on stage to discuss the Cape Charles novel Woo-Woo. The event is being held Nov. 18, as a fundraiser for The Palace Theatre.
Books will be available for purchase and Coccaro will sign them. The event will run 7 to 8:30 PM at the Palace, followed by an after party at Kelly’s Gingernut Pub at 133 Mason Avenue in Cape Charles.
Coccaro lives full-time in Cape Charles and spent three years crafting the novel about the town based upon its many eccentricities. Coccaro is executive editor of a book publishing company. As such, he edited, rewritten, ghost written and co-authored hundreds of novels and works of non-fiction by authors from around the world, including several New York Times bestsellers.
Jackson will interview Coccaro about Woo-Woo, its genesis and book writing.
Jackson has authored seven works of non-fiction and a novel. His non-fiction works include Leavenworth Train, a finalist for the 2002 Edgar Award, and the Seeds of Empire, one of Time magazine’s top ten books for 2008.
The two Joes worked together as investigative reporters for The Virginian-Pilot back in the 1990s.
“This should be a fun night for all involved,” Coccaro said. “At least I hope so. My novel is whimsical and very much pegged to the character of our cool and eccentric little town. I’m excited and honored that my friend Joe Jackson has agreed to join me at the Palace. Joe is a big-time author and will bring a lot of heft to the conversation. So, even if you don’t give a hoot about Woo-Woo, it’s worth turning out to see the other Joe.”
Admission is free and wine, beer and snacks will be sold. A portion of the proceeds from Woo-Woo book sales will be donated to the Palace.
