An afternoon writing class on creative memoir is being offered beginning May 16, and then every Thursday through June 20. The classes will be held at the Civic Center.
The class is facilitated by Mary Barrow, award-winning author of Small Moments: A Child’s Memories of the Civil Rights Movement.

While building the structure of your memoir, Barrow will discuss how to weave current events into your story. The idea is to show social and political issues can change the thinking and actions of ordinary people in their everyday lives.
Tools for how to research and build you story will be discussed. Several books that can help the process will also be explored.
To register, stop by the library or call 757-331-1300. There is no fee, and class limit is twelve.
