Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia has scheduled its next seminar, “Czechoslovakia’s Velvet Revolution: A Beginning, but Not the End of History.” The free 90-minute seminar will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, November 15 in the Lecture Hall of the Eastern Shore Community College, 29300 Lankford Hwy, Melfa, VA 23410.
Mark Nuckols will share his thoughts on the fall of Eastern-Bloc Communism, how it is worth celebrating, and on an aftermath in Central Europe fraught with problems
Nuckols, who studied Slavic languages, has spent seven years in the former Czechoslovakia – including shortly after the Velvet Revolution – and has made many return visits.
These seminars are occasionally rescheduled or postponed on short notice. Prospective attendees are urged to check the Seminar’s website (www.SciPhi.org) shortly before a scheduled date.
