NEWPORT NEWS, Virginia – Riverside Health System has achieved certification with the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization for compliance with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems.
This reflects the system’s long-standing commitment to quality, consistency, continual improvement and patient satisfaction. The multi-site certification is valid for three years and includes all of the acute care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and provider-based practices within Riverside Health System.
“ISO certification is a gold standard of quality and consistency that has been adopted by multiple industries,” said Mark Rath, Executive Director of Accreditation and Support Operations, Riverside Health System. “As a health care system, our ISO certification demonstrates a commitment to excellence that translates directly into exceptional patient care, safety and satisfaction today – as well as continuous process improvement that ensures we meet our goals moving into the future.”
ISO 9001 is the most widely used quality management standard and recently underwent a periodic update to better reflect modern business challenges.
Last modified in 2008, the most recent 2015 version of ISO 9001 is the result of input from business and technical experts around the world. The program requires greater involvement of senior management, a broader understanding of supply chains, and more focus on stakeholder (not just customer) expectations.
Riverside’s certification is provided by DNV GL – Business Assurance, part of the DNV GL Group, a world-leading certification body helping businesses assure the performance of their organizations, products, people, facilities and supply chains through certification, verification, assessment, and training services.
