Late Winter Split Application of Nitrogen on Small Grains (NM-4)
Split application of nitrogen on small grains during the late winter in two increments 30 days apart.
If organic sources of nitrogen have been applied then fall nitrates should be determined by a pre-side dress nitrate test the first winter application should not exceed 40 pounds of nitrogen per acre.
The second winter application should not exceed 50 pounds of nitrogen per acre.
Late winter applications must be at least 30 days apart from the first application no earlier than growth state 25.
