On November 8, 2022, the Town of Cape Charles will hold elections for the Mayor and three Town Council seats. To declare your candidacy, you must complete the Certificate of Candidate Qualification – Local Offices, and the Declaration of Candidacy and submit them to the Northampton County Registrar’s office located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville by 7:00 p.m. on June 21, 2022.
Candidacy requirements for individuals seeking to run for office may be found at the Virginia Department of Elections website. The Department of Elections published a Candidate Bulletin which includes step-by-step instructions to file your candidacy. You can also contact the Northampton County Registrar’s office at 757-678-0480.
The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration is October 17, 2022, and the last day of in-person early voting is November 5, 2022. The first day of in-person early voting at the registrar’s office is September 23, 2022.
The deadline to apply for a ballot to be mailed to you is October 28, 2022. Your request must be received by the registrar by 5:00 p.m.
