Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia has scheduled a seminar, βThe Slavs, the Balkans, and World War Iβ. The free 90-minute seminar will be held at 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2 in Room 113 of the Eastern Shore Community College, 29316 Lankford Hwy, Melfa, VA 23410.
Mark Nuckols will describe how Slavic autonomy movements upended “Old Europe” in World War I).
Raised on the Shore, Nuckols has spent three decades living among Slavs and learning and translating their languages; he has just published a book, Travels with Ferdinand, on his trip to Sarajevo to mark the 100th anniversary of WWI’s outbreak.

Science and Philosophy Seminar is an informally organized group that meets more-or-less regularly to explore and discuss a wide array of topics, ranging from philosophical speculation to scientific research. All Seminars are open to everyone. Admission is free.
