Join the Eastern Shore Bird Club on their next field trip scheduled for Thursday, November 2, at 9:00 am at the Kiptopeke Hawk Watch at Kiptopeke State Park, led by Joanne Laskowski and Maggie Long.
This program is free and open to the public. The Kiptopeke Hawk Watch is one of the best spots on the east coast for viewing fall hawk migration along the Atlantic Flyway.
November is a good time to catch the later migrants such as Red-shouldered Hawk and Red-tailed Hawk. Two Swainson’s Hawks (a western US species) and a Rough-legged Hawk were sighted there in the past couple of weeks.
Northern Harriers, Sharp-shinned Hawks, Coopers Hawks, Kestrels, Merlins, and Peregrine Falcons will continue to be on the move.
