This is the outcome of a new study by FishingBooker, the leading site for booking fishing trips in the US. The study ranked the top fishing spots in each state based on 6 criteria derived from FishingBooker’s internal data, gathered from over one hundred thousand fishing trips in the past year.
In Virginia, Chincoteague ended only behind Virginia Beach, but ahead of Hampton.
Why did Chincoteague take the second spot?
Chincoteague received 39 out of a total possible score of 60 points. In two out of six categories, it received the full ten points:

- Average review score

- Number of guides with the Angler’s Choice Award
- Number of bookings
- Minimum price of a fishing trip
