CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council has approved a request from Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Veber, full-time residents of 507 Tazewell Avenue, for a designated handicap parking space in front of their residence. The request, dated June 6, 2024, was made to accommodate Mr. Veber, who has mobility challenges and can only take a few steps at a time with the assistance of a walker.
Parking issues in the historic district of Cape Charles are well known, with no reserved parking on the streets within the residential areas. During the busy tourist season, it is often difficult for residents to find parking in front of or near their homes. The Town Council’s approval aims to provide necessary assistance to the Veber family, ensuring they have easier access to their home despite the parking constraints in the area.
