CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Friends of the Cape Charles Memorial Library are inviting community members to a unique evening event, the “Friday Night Owl Prowl,” on August 9, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. Local interpreter Bill Dyas from REAL VA will lead attendees on an evening stroll through the Natural Area Preserve.
Participants will have the opportunity to watch a beautiful sunset over the Chesapeake Bay and learn about local nature. After sunset, Dyas will guide the group back through the preserve on a night stroll, highlighting the area’s nocturnal animals and possibly spotting an owl or two.
Due to state permit restrictions, attendance is limited. Interested individuals must register by calling (757) 331-1300 or visiting the library, with registration beginning on Monday, July 29. Walk-ins will not be permitted.
The event will take place at the Cape Charles Natural Area Preserve, located at 301 Patrick Henry Avenue, Cape Charles, VA 23310. Attendees are advised to dress appropriately for outdoor weather and wear comfortable shoes. Water and bug repellant are recommended. The program is free and open to the public.
Photos and videos may be taken during the event and could appear on the library’s website and social media. Those who prefer not to have their pictures taken should notify library staff.
This event offers a unique opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Cape Charles at night while learning about the local ecosystem.
