CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Capital Projects Manager for Cape Charles, Bob Panek, has provided significant updates on several ongoing infrastructure projects within the town, signaling continued progress on key initiatives.
The manager offered additional feedback on the draft Beachfront Master Plan documents, sharing comments with both the Town Manager and the project’s consultant. This plan, once finalized, will guide future development and improvements along Cape Charles’ beachfront, a crucial area for both residents and visitors.
Planning has also commenced for two new sidewalk infill projects. These projects will focus on areas adjacent to town properties, including the Strawberry Street side of Central Park and the corner of Fig Street and Randolph Avenue. The infill projects aim to enhance pedestrian connectivity and safety in these well-traveled parts of the town.
Additionally, the manager completed and submitted the final Transportation Alternatives Program grant reimbursement request to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for Phase 3 of the Community Trail Project, which focuses on improvements along Peach Street. This reimbursement is an essential step in securing funding for the ongoing development of the town’s trail network, further supporting efforts to promote walking and biking in Cape Charles.
