SALISBURY, Md. — Perdue Farms is donating 400,000 pounds of “no-antibiotics-ever” chicken to support ten food banks along the East Coast as part of its Delivering Hope To Our Neighbors initiative during Hunger Action Month. The contribution, equivalent to 333,000 meals, is aimed at alleviating food insecurity in communities from Delaware to Georgia.
Todd Tillemans, chief commercial officer at Perdue Farms, emphasized the company’s dedication to fighting hunger: “As a food and agriculture company, we’re committed to fighting hunger in the communities we call home and beyond.”
Throughout September, 40,000 pounds of chicken will be delivered each week to food banks in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, and Georgia. Cathy Kanefsky, president and CEO of the Food Bank of Delaware, expressed gratitude for the donation, which provides essential protein to those in need.
Perdue Farms has a long-standing commitment to hunger relief, having donated nearly 100 million pounds of protein to Feeding America’s network since 2000. In addition to the chicken donations, the company is investing $140,000 in hunger relief programs, with a focus on childhood hunger through school and mobile pantries.
