CHERITON, Va. — In a highly anticipated local election, six candidates have been elected to the Cheriton Town Council. Terri Lynn Tatem led the pack with 164 votes, capturing 16.58% of the total. Close behind was B.B. “Barry” Downing, Jr., who received 163 votes (16.48%), and Norma P. Spencer with 147 votes, making up 14.86%.
The other top vote-getters included Robert K. “Bo” Lewis, Sr., who garnered 153 votes (15.47%), Jason Bryan Sparrow with 131 votes (13.25%), and Sheila M. Traina, securing 93 votes (9.40%).
With a maximum of six candidates allowed per vote, voters made their selections from a diverse group. Ivan Pena and Kandy A. Pena received 52 and 63 votes, respectively, while write-in candidates collected a total of 23 votes.
Stacy Sparrow defeated Larry LeMond for the Mayor post, garnering 154 votes to LeMond’s 81.
The newly elected council members will begin their terms in 2025, bringing a mix of experience and fresh perspectives to Cheriton’s leadership. Key issues on the agenda include managing growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing community services for residents.
