ACCOMAC, Va. — The Mary N. Smith Alumni Association, Inc. has received a $50,000 grant from the Eastern Shore of Virginia Community Foundation to fund significant renovations and upgrades at the Mary N. Smith Cultural Enrichment Center.
Located at 24577 Mary N. Smith Road in Accomac, the center is a vital community resource dedicated to addressing the physical, cultural, educational, and social needs of the Eastern Shore. The grant will be used to improve classroom facilities and modernize the building, enhancing the learning environment and equipping it with cutting-edge resources to better serve the community.
“We are thrilled to receive this generous support,” said a spokesperson for the Alumni Association. “This funding will help us create a space that fosters fitness, mental wellness, and economic security while strengthening families and encouraging personal growth.”
The Mary N. Smith Cultural Enrichment Center plans to offer a range of activities and programs aimed at nurturing the physical and mental well-being of participants while promoting economic and social stability. By pooling ideas, resources, and energy, the center strives to empower individuals and families to thrive as active contributors to society.
Renovation work is expected to begin soon, with the goal of creating a dynamic and welcoming space that meets the diverse needs of the community.
