NASSAWADOX, Va. — The Nature Conservancy is seeking three seasonal bird technicians to join its Migratory Bird Program on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in 2025. These positions offer an opportunity to contribute to critical conservation efforts along Virginia’s coast while gaining hands-on experience with migratory bird species.
The positions include:
- Shorebird Technician: Responsible for assisting with barrier island bird conservation efforts over a 16-18 week period.
- Willet Technician: Engaged in a 12-week GPS tracking project of breeding eastern willet populations.
- American Oystercatcher Technician: Leading a study to evaluate artificial nesting platforms for oystercatchers in salt marshes during a 16-week period.
Each role pays $22.50 per hour and provides an immersive experience in one of the most critical habitats along the Atlantic Flyway.
“This is a unique chance to work directly with migratory birds and support conservation on Virginia’s coast,” a Nature Conservancy representative said.
