CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Police Department released its monthly activity report for June 2025, highlighting a busy month of patrols, arrests, and traffic enforcement during the start of the summer season.
Officers responded to a total of 86 calls for service within town limits and provided assistance on five additional calls outside of Cape Charles. The department also conducted 63 building checks and logged 44 hours of foot patrol, along with 28 hours of patrol within the Bay Creek community.
Law enforcement activity led to two felony arrests and seven misdemeanor arrests. Charges included driving under the influence (DWI), hit and run, refusal, disorderly conduct (DIP), felony eluding, and reckless driving, including one case involving endangerment to life.
Traffic enforcement was a significant focus in June, with officers issuing 26 traffic summonses and 67 parking tickets. There were also 15 documented interactions involving golf carts, a common mode of transportation in the resort town during the summer months.
Cape Charles police officers assisted the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office five times, though no assistance was reported with the Virginia State Police or other agencies during the month.
In addition to enforcement and patrol duties, all officers completed required annual certifications in TREADS, VCIN, and RADAR/LIDAR training.
The department’s increased visibility and enforcement come as Cape Charles experiences its seasonal surge in population, with both residents and visitors filling the town’s streets, beaches, and marinas.

All in all, the CCPD does a good job. It’s become a thankless profession that is dealing with a HUGE recruitment and retention challenge. We should consider ourselves very fortunate.

Do you mean FLETC? (Federal Law Enforcement Training ) or LEITP?

Also Laser radar training in Cape Charles!? Do you want your officers like Eastville? Your not making sense and waiting money.
