The Cape Charles Historic District Civic League will host a General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at the Civic Center located at 500 Tazewell Avenue. The meeting will also be available virtually via Zoom for those unable to attend in person.
The evening will feature presentations from Clayton Newman, Town Councilman, and Mark Usry, who chairs the town’s Beautification Committee. Both are expected to discuss the Cape Charles Tree Replanting initiative, an ambitious community improvement project.
The tree replanting program has secured $30,000 in funding aimed at enhancing the town’s natural beauty. The initiative focuses on removing old tree stumps throughout the community and replacing them with new trees, contributing to Cape Charles’ ongoing efforts to maintain its historic charm while promoting environmental sustainability.
The civic league is actively seeking community involvement in the project, encouraging residents to share ideas, volunteer for tree planting activities, and submit requests for specific areas where new trees might be needed. The meeting represents an opportunity for public input on this significant beautification effort.
Residents interested in participating can contact the organization at cccivic1886@gmail.com for more information about the meeting or the tree planting initiative.
