Cape Charles–Just in time for peak camping season, Progressive Insurance® and American Park Network campgrounds around the country, including KOA Cape Charles are teaming up to launch Thirst for Adventure—a refreshing new campaign designed to help keep park visitors hydrated, happy, and ready for fun. Starting August 1st, campers in participating campgrounds will receive free lemonade-flavored electrolyte packets, specially formulated for hydration, with a taste campers of all ages will love.
More than just a hydration solution, this initiative is a celebration of the great outdoors—and comes with a chance to win big. Each sample includes a unique code that guests can enter online for a chance to win free camping, water bottles, and even a grand prize giveaway – free camping for a year – at the end of the season.
Here’s how it works:
- Campers receive their free sample with the entry code at participating campgrounds.
- They scan the QR code or visit www.thirstforadventure.org to enter.
- Every day during the promotion, campers can enter for a chance to win a free night of camping. Everyone who participates will also be entered for a chance to win a year of free camping!
In addition to fun and prizes, Thirst for Adventure reminds visitors to ditch single-use plastic bottles—especially as National Parks, some state parks and municipalities begin to phase out their sales.
“This program is all about celebrating the camping lifestyle, helping people stay hydrated in the summer heat, and making their outdoor experiences even more rewarding,” said Joel Saferstein, Chief Marketing Officer of American Park Network. “We also encourage travelers to think about their impact on the environment, remember to bring reusable bottles whenever possible, and always do their best to leave no trace.”
The campaign also highlights a growing safety concern: the rising number of heat-related illnesses in parks and public lands. In 2023 alone, the CDC reported nearly 120,000 heat-related Emergency Room visits in the United States during the May to September “warm season,” with more than 2,300 fatalities, the most since 1979. Many of these incidents occurred in areas commonly visited by outdoor travelers, underscoring the importance of hydration and awareness. By offering convenient access to electrolytes, Thirst for Adventure helps address this critical health issue in a fun and engaging way.
“As an insurance leader in the recreational space, protection and safety are very important to us,” said Eric Doubler, Progressive Recreational Lines Business Leader. “We share in the passion and enthusiasm people have for the outdoors, but also recognize the danger extreme heat and dehydration can have. So, collaborating with American Park Network was a great way for us to help people stay hydrated while promoting safety and responsibility in their outdoor adventures.”
The program runs July through October 2025 and is available at participating campgrounds in areas that are high, hot and humid. Thirst for Adventure ambassadors will also distribute samples at select RV events and campgrounds.

Is this one of Wayne’s spoofs. People today cant tell whether they are thirsty or not? They need people to come around and spoon feed them a liquid
Speaking of gene pool. I would also come around to each tent at night and tuck in these thirsty campers and give them all a teddy bear.
They are just as obsessed with water as they are their with their precious cell-phones. Full blown addiction with no shame what so ever. They can not get thru a 45 minute church service without a slug of water every 3 minutes, or a 10 minute drive without looking at their phone every 30 seconds. If they were told to wash their hind parts with bleach, at 8am, the store shelves would be empty by 12 noon. Sad.
