CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The town treasurer’s office is urging local businesses to update their licensing information by Sept. 3 as part of the 2025 renewal process.
The Town Treasurer’s Office said businesses that have not renewed their licenses for 2025 may need to update their information in the municipal system, particularly if they have restructured operations, changed business names or updated contact information.
“Contact us right away and allow us to update your information within our business license system,” the Office said in a notice to businesses.
The treasurer’s office also is asking business owners who have ceased operations to formally notify the town to deactivate their license accounts. Owners can send closure notifications to ryan.silvey@capecharles.org.
Town officials said the September deadline is critical because the municipality will begin collection procedures for outstanding business license fees from active businesses after that date.
The annual business license renewal process helps Cape Charles maintain accurate records of commercial operations within town limits and ensures proper fee collection for municipal services.
Business owners with questions about their license status or renewal requirements can contact the treasurer’s office directly.
Cape Charles requires most commercial operations within town boundaries to maintain current business licenses as part of municipal regulations governing local commerce.
