As schools reopen across the Eastern Shore of Virginia, the Academy for Lifetime Learning (ALL) is inviting residents to take part in its new fall lineup of classes.
For a $25 registration fee, participants can take as many classes as they wish. Courses will be offered at Eastern Shore Community College and other locations, with registration and a full catalog available on the ALL website (www.allesva.org) starting August 15. Some classes begin as early as the first week of September.
The fall schedule includes a mix of new offerings and longtime favorites. New this year is a class in crochet amigurumi, the Japanese art of making small crocheted animals, as well as basketweaving. For those interested in giving back, ALL will also host sessions highlighting volunteer opportunities at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital and the Dos Santos Thrift Shop.
Popular returning programs include flower arranging, kayaking, bocce ball, and Dennis Custis’ always well-attended lecture on Eastern Shore history.
Organizers encourage early registration, as many classes tend to fill quickly. “It’s a chance to try something new, meet others in the community, and keep learning,” the Academy said in its announcement.
