CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The artwork of MAMA-Girl!, a beloved Eastern Shore artist whose vivid depictions of agriculture, community, and everyday life captured the spirit of the Shore, is now on display at Ker Place.
The exhibit, curated in partnership with the Baron and Ellin Gordon Galleries at Old Dominion University and gallery director Cullen Strawn, brings MAMA-Girl!’s legacy back home, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to reconnect with her storytelling through art.
“MAMA-Girl! left behind a legacy that continues to bring smiles and fond memories to all who see her work,” Shore History said in a statement. “We are grateful to ODU and Cullen Strawn for sharing this body of work and helping us showcase the story she told through her art.”
The exhibition will run through Nov. 7 at Ker Place, open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A docent will also be available most Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. Visitors may call ahead to schedule appointments outside of regular hours.
