CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Plans for a new municipal building at the corner of Randolph Avenue and Fig Street are moving forward, with site plan drawings now completed and under review, town officials said.
The site plan for the proposed building was prepared by HBA/MSA and has been submitted for review to the Virginia Department of Transportation, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, and the town’s zoning administrator.
According to the plans, the project includes underground stormwater detention structures. Vehicle access to the parking lot would be from Randolph Avenue, while the police garage entrance is planned for Fig Street.
Town officials said the review process and any required revisions to the site plan are expected to be completed by the end of January.
The next phase of the project will involve updating the building drawings to comply with the latest building code and to incorporate any changes resulting from the site plan review. That work is anticipated to be completed by the end of February.
The town is targeting mid-March to advertise an invitation for bids for construction of the new municipal building in Cape Charles.
