Accomack, Va. — Residents interested in tracing their family roots will have an opportunity to learn how to explore billions of historical records during an upcoming lecture at the Eastern Shore of Virginia Regional Library.
The program, titled “Introduction to AncestryLibrary.com,” will take place Tuesday, March 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the Eastern Shore of Virginia Regional Library & Heritage Center.
The session will be led by Heritage Center Manager Jazmine Collins, who will provide a beginner-friendly overview of AncestryLibrary.com, a popular genealogy database available to library users.
During the lecture, Collins will demonstrate how to navigate the platform and begin searching historical documents such as census records, military records, immigration documents, and other archives that can help uncover family histories.
Participants will learn the basics of genealogical research and how to use the database’s search tools to trace ancestors and discover connections to the past.
Library officials say the event is designed for beginners and anyone curious about learning more about their family story through historical records.
The program begins at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Those interested in genealogy research or local history are encouraged to attend.
