CAPE CHARLES — September on the Eastern Shore means warm afternoons, cooler evenings, and one more good excuse to get outside before summer finally gives way to fall.
Cape Charles Christian School has just the excuse.
The school’s annual Crabby Blues Festival returns to Cape Charles Central Park on Saturday, September 19, from 2 to 7 p.m., bringing an afternoon of live music, food, artisans, children’s activities and community fun to the heart of town.
And perhaps the best part — admission is free.
Crabby Blues is a fundraiser for Cape Charles Christian School, but it has also grown into the kind of relaxed community gathering that fits Cape Charles particularly well. Bring the kids, grab something to eat, wander through the vendor booths, listen to some music and settle in for an afternoon in Central Park.
The festival will feature live music, artisan vendors, food vendors and entertainment for children, giving families plenty to do while providing local makers and businesses an opportunity to showcase their work.
There is something particularly Cape Charles about the whole affair. No velvet ropes. No complicated ticket packages. Just music, food, neighbors, visitors and families gathering beneath the trees in Central Park.
Free admission really does mean free admission. Organizers say the event will once again be open to everyone at no charge.

Vendors and Sponsors Wanted
Cape Charles Christian School is still looking for people and businesses interested in becoming festival sponsors or vendors.
For local artists, craftspeople, restaurants, food vendors and small businesses, Crabby Blues offers an opportunity to get in front of a hometown crowd while supporting the school.
Those interested in participating can contact Cape Charles Christian School at 757-331-1717 or office@cccsesva.org.
