NORFOLK – In less than 60 days, the new Waterside District will kick off a four-day grand opening party, with musical performances throughout the weekend.
Starting Thursday, May 11, the re-imagined entertainment venue will host four days of free fun with live performances by Weezer and New Politics. Country music artist Chase Brice will take the stage Saturday, May 13. Activities like face painting, bounce houses, magicians and a Tides fast pitch will also be set up around the district.

“It has been so gratifying to see this project come together, and we are thrilled with all that the new Waterside District will bring to downtown Norfolk,” said Glenn Sutch, President of Waterside District, in a news release on Wednesday. “I encourage everyone to check out the live music, multiple dining options, and all the fun activities that Waterside District has to offer.”
Other special events throughout the weekend include the yacht rock band Schooner or Later, Blue Moon TapHouse Sunday Brunch for Mother’s Day and Sunday Fun Day at Harbor Club. A full schedule can be seen online here.
The district will officially open to the public one week before on May 4, which includes a concert featuring Michael Ray.
