CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Cape Charles Capital Projects Manager reported progress this week on several initiatives, including the relocation of town offices, a workforce housing proposal, and harbor improvements.
The Town finalized a lease with Trinity United Methodist Church for office space, with both parties coordinating cleanout, repairs and a move-in schedule. Plans are also underway to relocate administrative offices to the leased space and shift the Police Department to the second floor of the Municipal Building.
Survey work for a new Municipal Building was completed by subconsultant MSA, according to the report. The town also continues to refine a Request for Proposals for workforce housing development on town-owned land, in collaboration with the Town Manager.
In response to accessibility concerns, the town secured a Virginia Department of Transportation permit for two handicapped-accessible parking spaces at the eastern end of Park Row.
Additionally, a staff report recommending a contract award for Phase 2 of the Harbor Boardwalk Reconstruction project was submitted for inclusion on the upcoming Town Council agenda.
