As most locals are aware, the entire Town of Cape Charles is a tourism zone. The current narrative is that this was done to attract new tourism-related businesses. This means that the citizens provide tax credits, in the form of tax and permit rebates, to certain tourism-related businesses that make new investments in town.
Cape Charles Mini Golf is covered by this ordinance (20161117) and has applied to enter the program. If approved by Town Council, the golf course is due $ 4,061.80.
Cape Charles Mini Golf is also due additional payments of approximately $3,735 ($747 annually) over a five-year period. This number is based on revenue projections and the estimated value of improvements provided by the business owner in his application.
