The Cape Charles Museum and Welcome Center Announces, Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition Exploring Water’s Historical, Environmental And Cultural Impact
September 2 – October 15, 2017: Cape Charles Historical Society, 814 Randolph Avenue, Cape Charles, VA
The Cape Charles Museum and Welcome Center is one of six organizations in Virginia chosen to host “Water/Ways”, a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum on Main Street (MoMS) program. “Water/Ways” thoughtfully examines the role of water in history, culture, habitat, and environment. As ‘the land between two waters’, the exhibition is especially relevant here on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
With input from the Nature Conservancy, several Commonwealth universities and educational institutions, and Town of Cape Charles’s thought leaders, the Cape Charles Historical Society has worked to integrate the relevance of our museum’s local historical content into complementary exhibits of local and regional interest to raise people’s understanding about what water means in our own community.
Please plan to attend! The Exhibition will be open 9 – 3 weekdays (9 – 6 Tuesdays), 10 -5 Saturdays, and 1 – 5 Sundays, from Sept 2 to Oct 15.
