CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Town officials say the Cape Charles park fountain and splash pad are safe for use after recent cleaning and treatment.
Public Works Manager staff reported this week that the water has been treated with the proper chemicals, which do not affect pH or chlorine levels. Crews will continue monitoring the facility to reduce slip-and-fall issues that have been a recurring concern.
Unlike in past summers, the team said they did not face problems with green algae, which is typically managed by slightly raising chlorine levels.
The splash pad, a popular attraction for families during the warmer months, will remain under close observation to ensure continued safety.
Listen, folks, we have to talk about our town’s recreation options. The splash pad idea? Not sure it’s the best idea if we’re really not focused on families and kids. We need to think bigger. We want to create spaces that bring people together—adults and kids alike!
If we’re going to do this splash pad, let’s make it great. We want top-notch materials, the best coatings, and proper drainage. We don’t want to cut corners. Safety has to be a priority because we want our children and everyone to enjoy it without worry.
Now, I’m telling you, we should also seriously consider bringing back that fountain! A big, beautiful fountain right in the center of the park. It could be fantastic! Something that draws people in, a place for families to gather, to celebrate community. Let’s make it a focal point that we can all be proud of!
It’s time for us to step up and create a town that everyone feels good about. Together, we can make it happen, and we can make it wonderful!
