CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Police Department handled a broad spectrum of public safety incidents over the past reporting period, ranging from routine foot patrols and vehicle checks to arrests for driving under the influence and disorderly conduct.
According to the department’s latest report, officers conducted building checks, issued traffic summonses, enforced code violations, and completed five golf cart-related interactions. Foot patrols also continued throughout the town to maintain a visible police presence.
Among the numerous calls for service, officers responded to reports of a subject harassing employees, multiple verbal disputes, vehicle accidents, and incidents involving intoxicated or disorderly individuals. A DUI arrest was made, and a separate case involved an arrest related to threats of harm.
In Cheriton, officers provided assistance during two reported fights in progress and responded to a gunshot victim. Other notable incidents included the report of a stolen golf cart, a vehicle hit-and-run, and a case involving a missing juvenile. Officers also addressed several custody-related issues and welfare checks.
Additional responses included a fire reported on the beach, fireworks in a residential area, loud music complaints, trespassing, and a mental health crisis. Police also investigated reports of theft, lost property, and underage driving.
The department worked in coordination with fire services on several calls and conducted follow-up investigations where needed.
