CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council has reappointed Bill Ashworth and Ian McDonald to the town’s Planning Commission, ensuring continuity as their current terms approach expiration at the end of the month. Both members will continue to serve following unanimous approval by the council.
Mr. Ashworth, originally appointed in December 2022, and Mr. McDonald, appointed in June 2024, were both selected to fill unexpired terms left by former commissioners. With their terms set to expire on October 31, 2024, both expressed a desire to continue serving on the Planning Commission, which plays a critical role in guiding the town’s growth and development.
Town officials praised the contributions of Ashworth and McDonald, noting their commitment to community planning and their efforts to help shape the future of Cape Charles. Their reappointment will allow for continuity on the commission as it addresses key development and land-use issues facing the town.
The Planning Commission’s responsibilities include reviewing site plans, rezoning applications, and other land-use matters to ensure they align with the town’s comprehensive plan and long-term vision. With Ashworth and McDonald continuing their roles, the commission is set to maintain its momentum on important projects.
