CAPE CHARLES, Va. (Oct. 18, 2024) — The Cape Charles Town Council has reappointed Laura Weigand to the town’s Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA), extending her service as a key member of the board. Weigand’s current term is set to expire on October 31, 2024, but she has expressed interest in continuing her role.
Weigand was initially appointed to the BZA in January 2022 to complete the unexpired term of a former board member. Over the past two years, she has been an active participant in the board’s deliberations, helping to guide decisions on zoning variances and appeals.
The BZA plays an essential role in maintaining the town’s zoning ordinances and providing a forum for property owners to seek relief from zoning regulations when necessary. Weigand’s reappointment ensures stability and continued expertise on the board, as the town works to balance development and preservation.
Town officials expressed confidence in Weigand’s ability to continue contributing positively to the BZA, highlighting her dedication and understanding of zoning matters. Her new term will allow her to remain involved as the town addresses future zoning challenges.
