I just have to say it–the K-Coast Surf Shop in Cape Charles is hot, we love this store. For over 30 years Mark Pugh and Chris Shanahan brought true surfer culture to the East Coast with their K-Coast Surf Shop in Ocean City. Cape Charles is so lucky to have them down here on this end of the Shore. The first shop was named Kookaburra Coast, named after the Australian Kingfisher bird. Now you know what the “K” stands for!
The Cape Charles store is really beautiful and has everything for those that love and live the surfer aesthetic.
A huge part of the great feel comes from the store manager, one of our very own local surfers, Spencer Travis. You could not pick a better person to run this shop. If you know Spencer, you know that nobody loves the water, beach, and Cape Charles more than he does, and he brings all of that summer feeling to K-Coast. He’s also one that knows you can indeed surf the Bay if conditions are right.
Critics may say, “There are no waves in Cape Charles”, which is generally true, except during a big storm. However, K-Coast knows that waves are a lot closer than you think and that surfers will go where they have to, and Cape Charles is one of the best points of origin whether you’re chasing waves north, south, or east. Surfing and skating are really about the culture, the aesthetic, and a belief, which is why this place is our town’s best little hangout.
Walk into K-Coast and you’ll see what I mean! You’ll fall in love with it too!
