EXMORE, VA (December 9, 2016) – Following its successful and sold-out 2017 Soule Arnold Oyster Roast in the Exmore Town Park, the Exmore Rotary Club presented two six-foot long benches to the Town of Exmore in appreciation of the Town donating the park facilities for the event. The Town of Exmore has made the Town Park available for this annual Rotary fundraiser since 2014.
“We are all extremely grateful for the many services to our Eastern Shore communities provided by the Exmore Rotary Club over the years,” said Mayor Doug Greer. “The club and its members support 20 different local non-profit organizations, and Exmore is pleased to contribute the use our Town Park to this worthy event.”
In presenting a check for the benches, Rotary Club president Leah Fisher expressed the club’s gratitude to the Town. “This is the third year that we have held the Oyster Roast in Exmore and each year it has grown larger,” said Ms. Fisher. “The Town Park is a wonderful asset for major events, and it is a pleasure to add the benches to the amenities already in place for Shore residents.”
In addition to seating, grills, picnic tables, restrooms and playground equipment in the park, the construction was recently completed on a large multiuse building. An official ribbon cutting and “Opening” of the multi-use building and the adjacent stage is planned for the spring.
Exmore Rotary which was founded in 1927 is part of Rotary International District 7600. Rotary International is a service organization whose purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
