Hilton, a 12-foot-long, 1,326-pound great white shark was pinged swimming off the coast of Virginia Beach.

The shark was tagged by OCEARCH on March 3. Since that time, he’s traveled 3,233 miles up and down the east coast, venturing as far north as the Eastern Shore.
Hilton swam near Virginia Beach after a short stay off the coast of the Outer Banks on July 16 and 17.
Hilton should be heading north to cooler waters. As of 6:06 p.m. July18, he had swam about 150 miles and was around the inside edge of the Norfolk Canyon, about 70 miles to the east-northeast of Cape Henry. Hilton surfaced again, about 33 minutes later, in the same location.
